The World Games 2021

Competing Globally. Uniting Locally.

In 2017, 80 athletes from 26 countries participated in 3 orienteering events in The World Games (TWG) in Poland. And in 2021, The World Games are coming to Birmingham! The Vulcan Orienteering Club (VOC) is excited to be helping with such a unique event.

The Birmingham games will be the 40th anniversary of TWG and will be from July 15 - 25, 2021. They were established by the International World Games Association, an organization recognized by the International Olympic Committee. The World Games 2021 will feature elite orienteering at its best, for athletes, spectators, and followers around the globe. Our sport will have 40 men and 40 women participating in three competitions: Sprint, Sprint Relay, and Middle Distance.

For more information, visit TheWorldGames2021.com. Bulletin 1 is now released and can be found in IOF Eventor.

The VOC will provide volunteers for activities such as map checking, course vetting, pre-runners, control sitters/supervisors, assistance in the quarantine and warm-up areas, start crew, finish crew, course marshals, and general assistance to TWG staff at the venue for each event. Contact Anne Mathews for more information about volunteering.
